Talib, Crabtree Suspensions Reduced

Aqib Talib And Michael Crabtree Suspended Two Games For Chain-Snatching Brawl

Talib and Crabtree have history with one another.

Talib will sit out the next game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Failure to make a business decision this time around, if the suspension holds up, will cost each of them two game checks, which for Crabtree is several hundred thousand dollars and for Talib amounts to more than $1 million. Then, on the subsequent play, you blocked a different Broncos opponent (Talib) into the sidelines beyond the yellow media border, well after the play was over. The fight between the two turned into what the National Football League called "a melee". "Such actions have no place in this game, engender ill will between teams, and lead to further confrontations".

The Raiders also could be without their other starting receiver in Amari Cooper. "It happened three minutes into the game".

Raiders coach Jack Del Rio was confused, and referenced the Green-Ramsey fight.

On Tuesday, punishments were handed down following the brawl between the Raiders and Broncos. The other three receivers on the roster - Patterson, Holton and Seth Roberts - have combined for just 46 catches.

Both players are expected to appeal their suspensions.

The fight that got Crabtree suspended was a spill-over from some bad blood after Talib ripped Crabtree's chain from his neck during the season finale past year. This time, though, he couldn't restrain.

The previous incident between the two players occurred at the end of last season. Crabtree missed Oakland's Week 4 game in Denver with a chest injury.

Both Crabtree and Talib were originally banned for two games, but their suspensions were then reduced to just one. Talib stood up, grabbed Crabtree's helmet and threw it off.

This beef between Talib and Crabtree goes back to last season. At the Coliseum, the only way to get into the tunnel is through the home sideline.

Both players were ejected in the first half of the Week 12 battle, but additional penalties were levied because they violated unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness rules.

Crabtree punched Denver cornerback Chris Harris Jr. while blocking him on the first play of Oakland's second drive. The NFL evidently reviewed that play, too, since Runyan referenced it in his letter to Crabtree.

Runyan also wrote a letter to Talib.

"The series of flagrant violations for which you are being disciplined began less than three minutes into the game". First, while competing on the field of play, you deliberately ripped your opponent's chain from his neck just as you did a year ago when you played against him. Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green threw multiple punches at Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey earlier this season and the National Football League didn't suspend him.
