"Bored" 10-Year-Old Led Cops On Wild Chase

10-Year-Old Boy Leads Police on Chase

Police arrested the boy about an hour later after a chase with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

Dash camera footage from the Ohio State Highway Patrol shows the Cleveland boy drive into the opposing lane of the Ohio Turnpike.

A 10-year-old boy has led USA police on an interstate pursuit, reaching speeds of 160 kilometres per hour.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Richard Reeder told the publication the boy refused to cooperate and troopers were forced to pull him out of the vehicle through the window.

The officers had to physically pull the child out of the auto via the driver's side window.

The boy, who is from the Cleveland area, took the vehicle around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday as he was waiting for his older sister to take him to school, the New York Daily News reported.

Fearful for the safety of other motorists, the Ohio State Highway Patrol laid out spike strips, which they say slowed the boy down significantly. At that point one trooper was able to make eye contact with the boy and direct him to pull over, but he kept going, according to the police report. On of the trooper's cruisers struck the auto from behind, making the child take a sharp turn and hit another trooper's cruiser, ending the chase.

"Break the window", one trooper said.

Once the boy hits speeds of roughly 100 miles per hour, four other police cruisers joined the case and tried to roadblock the speeding minor, Highway Patrol Sergeant Tim Hoffman told The Chicago Tribune.

But the joyride comes to an end when his family auto gets stuck and slides into a highway sign. He was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

On Oct. 16 he took his mom's 2013 Dodge Charger from the driveway and was later found driving with three flat tires on Interstate 90, the TV station reported. After he is released he will be placed into the custody of Erie County Children's Services.

The boy told the officers he took his mother's vehicle because he was bored, police said.
