Over 220 youth from Jammu-Kashmir join Indian Army

JK: Deputy CM dares opposition to publicly demand holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh's birthday

The black day marks 70 years of the illegal occupation of Kashmir by Indian forces.

The protest was organised by the Tehreek-e-Kashmir United Kingdom (UK) and was led by Senior Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Tariq Farooq, AJK Assembly Member Abdur Rashid Turabi, President Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK Faheem Kiyani and Scottish member of the parliament Anas Sarwar.

The rally started from Johnston Terrace Edinburgh and culminated near the Parliament. The participants chanted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

"The House reiterates that India, which boasts itself to be the "largest democracy of the world" is in violation of democratic values and principles, given its complete denial of even the most fundamental human rights of the local population".

Kashmir was completely shut down on Friday to protest the anniversary of the Indian army's arrival in the Valley in 1947, a day separatist leaders described in their statement as "black day and the day of mourning for the Kashmiris".

He said the UN does not give the rights of Muslim countries the same importance as it does to the rights of Western nations.

On the occasion, Anas Sarwar said Indian forces were blinding Kashmiri children using pellet guns and over 400 children had lost their vision.

The third point reads: "This gathering urges the world bodies and all the human rights organisations to intervene into the ill treatment being meted out to thousand of prisoners lodged in state and outside jails and to ensure prisoners who have completed their term are released and others who are serving detention are treated as per proper jail manuals".

"October 27 is the blackest day in the history of Kashmir as on this day India violated all the worldwide laws to invade in the largest area of the state of Jammu and Kashmir", said Jaamat-e-Islami AJK former chief Abdur Rashid Turabi.

He said worst form of state terrorism is being perpetrated against the defenseless Kashmiris and entire Indian state machinery is involved in the crimes against humanity.

The Ambassador said the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir is not only a travesty of justice and legality, it is also a betrayal of the legitimate right of the Kashmiri people to determine their own destiny.
