Trump tweets he will allow release of Kennedy documents

Artifacts from the Kennedy assassination that are preserved in the National Archives include: The bloodstained outfit Jacqueline Kennedy refused to change out of until her return to Washington a bullet found on a stretcher at Parkla

"I applaud the fact that President Trump is releasing these documents", presidential historian Douglas Brinkley says.

Most of the assassination documents (88%) have already been released, according to a JFK-related Web site that has been counting down the days, with the remainder now being released next week comprising 3,810 documents, including formerly redacted and withheld documents.

Theorists still wonder if a some of the documents were destroyed before the remaining were sealed.John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy, commonly referred to by his initials JFK, served as the 35th President of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963.

In response to his announcement Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics and author of a book about Kennedy, tweeted back: 'Thank you. Congress mandated in 1992 that all assassination documents be released within 25 years, but the president has the power to block their release on the grounds that making them public would harm government intelligence, military operations or foreign relations. Please do not allow any exceptions for any agency of government.

The CIA and Federal Bureau of Investigation, whose records make up the bulk of the batch, won't say whether they've appealed to the Republican president to keep them under wraps. "What happened with the assassination of John F. Kennedy is still, parts of it, a mystery".

However, the White House released a statement on Saturday saying the president believed the "documents should be made available in the interests of full transparency unless agencies provide a compelling and clear national security or law enforcement justification otherwise", reports The Washington Post.

Even Trump has accused America of plotting his predecessor's death, telling Fox News in 2016 that he believed the father of Republican Senator Ted Cruz had consorted with Oswald right before the shooting.

At the weekend, President Donald Trump announced on Twitter he did not plan to stand in the way of the scheduled release. "It sheds very bad light on the deep state".

Among those was a 1975 internal Central Intelligence Agency memo that questioned whether Oswald became motivated to kill Kennedy after reading an article in a newspaper that quoted Fidel Castro as saying: 'US leaders would be in danger if they helped in any attempt to do away with leaders of Cuba'.
