New Switch Firmware Update Also Avaliable for Joy-Con Controllers

Nintendo Switch Update 4.0 Lets You Transfer Save Data

In addition to the actual Switch system, it looks like Nintendo has also rolled out an update for the Joy-Con controllers. This means it's not a backup to SD card feature, as many fans would like. You can only save 30 seconds of video, which can then be saved and shared to Facebook or Twitter.

Frustratingly, though, only a few Switch games support this cool little feature off the bat.

When combined with the Nintendo 3DS family of systems and the plug-and-play Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition system, Nintendo systems claimed two-thirds of the month's total video game hardware sales. But much like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Switch doesn't support bluetooth audio at this point. Once data is transferred, it's a permanent trip.

However, the caveat is that all the data will be deleted on the source console so it works like moving data on DS systems. Pre-purchase option is accessible for selected games on Nintendo eShop. Nintendo hasn't fully confirmed this just yet, but we could see more features introduced as soon as next week, as Super Mario Odyssey has been confirmed for video capture.

The second interesting feature of transferring user profiles and saving data to a new console is very helpful to satisfy users. That's why it was so smart of Nintendo to add the ability to pre-pay and pre-load games ahead of release. In the meantime, Switch owners can record their epic gaming moments in other titles, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Arms, and Splatoon 2.

For a full list of the changes, check here for the patch notes issued by Nintendo. Players have noticed that updated systems will now detect wireless headsets - as long as they're connected over USB. If it doesn't, you can manually download the update by heading to the System Settings app, going to System, and selecting System Update.
