Facebook now lets you order food through the app

Facebook Online Order Food Delivery App

"Today, we're taking the time out of finding what you want to eat by officially launching the ability to order food for pick-up or delivery, directly on Facebook", Alex Himel, Vice President of Local, wrote in a blog late on Friday. It's pretty simple. Like every other delivery app out there, Facebook's Order Food will allow you to browse a list of available restaurants near you and order either takeout or delivery from your favorite.

The company began testing its "order food" capability past year based on feedback from its users and after adding more partners to its list, a spokeswoman said.

The favourite food chains in the United States like Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc, Jack In The Box Inc, Five Guys and Papa John's International Inc have all tied up with Facebook for this new service.

Facebook is already a place where people can check into restaurants and search recommendations to decide where they're going to eat next. Facebook has also tied up with food delivery experts like EatStreet, Delivery.com, DoorDash and Olo as well.

"For example, if you have an account with Delivery.com, you can easily order with your existing login".

It is working as well with restaurant chains directly such as Five Guys, Wingstop, Papa John's, TGI Fridays, El Pollo Loco, Denny's and Chipotle amongst others.

The post announcing this previously tested food ordering feature details a truly awful present and an even more terrible future. This provides the user with a one-stop shop to look at everything you can have delivered to your home, rather than having to visit individual apps and websites. The feature is now gradually rolling out to US users for both the website and the Android/iOS app, and it's currently unknown whether it will make its way to other countries.

The idea was to determine if adding a point of entry through the main navigation of Facebook could help increase usage for its food ordering feature. Unlike similar services, such as UberEats or Postmates, there's no fleet of Facebook Order Food employees waiting to pick up your food and rush it to you.

The exception (for now) is delivery.com, which does allow you to do everything on Facebook itself if you're using your browser. But not anymore. Facebook has made it easy.
