Google Play Store App update v8.3.42 now available

Google Wallpapers App Updated With New Categories, Bit of Pixel 2 ...

Google's Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL ship in a little over a week for early adopters, but for some customers, trying the phone in person is the only thing that will actually seal the deal.

Are you pleased to see video calling become a more integral part of the Android operating system?

Sadly, there has been no indication that this feature will come to any Android phones other than the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, but it turns out that you can replicate the feature on any phone, including an iPhone, with a free app. So, for making a video call via Google Duo, the user of the Android phone needs to have the Duo application installed in their phone.

That's about to change though, with Google announcing plans to do with Duo what Apple has been doing with FaceTime for years. In March, the app gained audio calling support, so it's not a one-trick pony anymore.

"You can now start a video call directly from where you call or text message your friends, through your Phone, Contacts, and Android Messages apps", product manager Jan Jedrzejowicz wrote in a blog post.

As for supported devices, you and whoever you are video calling only have a handful to choose from. Also exclusive to Pixel phones is that new rainy city wallpaper that was first shown off on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. You can also use an Android One device, but if you have one of those, chances are you're not doing video calling. The company is looking to add more carriers that leverage ViLTE over time, but for now it's just Verizon. Also, both the contacts need to be available on ViLTE and this puts a niche tag to the feature. For now though, its availability is still extremely limited.
