BlackBerry unveils the fullscreen Motion with IP67 rating and 4000mAh battery

The rear of the Motion compared to the Key One below

BlackBerry Motion, a new smartphone from TCL, has been launched with a full touchscreen at the GITEX Tech Week in Dubai.

Special features of the BlackBerry Motion include a Smart Convenience Key so you can quickly access a particular app or function. Interestingly, BlackBerry has done away with the QWERTY keyboard that the company is known for.

From the picture, we can see the BlackBerry Motion retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and features a traditional home button.

The new BlackBerry smartphone comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD display that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Android Central reports, however, that the BlackBerry Motion will pack a Snapdragon 625 CPU under the hood, backed up by 4GB RAM, 32GB storage and a beefy 4,000mAh battery. The device sports a 12 Megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 8 Megapixel front camera for taking selfies and video calling. The BlackBerry Motion is a mid-range dual-SIM Android 7.1.1 Nougat smartphone. The phone is also backed by a massive 4,000mAh battery that has the capacity to power the phone to make it run for almost 26 hours with mixed usage.

AndroidCentral has reported that the device will selling at a price of $460 and will be available first in the Middle East markets such as UAE and Saudi Arabia. Now there is no information on when the handset will launch in other markets.

Expected to have a battery life of up to 26 hours, it is pretty evident that the Motion can easily manage a day without the need of charging it, reported Engadget. Since BlackBerry has so far stayed away from water resistance with its devices, the Motion is actually the first BlackBerry-branded smartphone to be water resistant. That'll enable 50% rercharging in 40 minutes.

The Motion will run a slightly modified version of stock Android with integration of BlackBerry's renowned security software.
