PV Sindhu wins Korea Super Series title

World Championship Final Was Not In My Mind Says PV Sindhu

With this win, the Olympic silver medallist turns to avenge her finals loss to Okuhara in Worlds Badminton Championship 2017 that happened last month in Glasgow, UK. This was her third Super Series title and second this year.

It will once again be her World Championship final nemesis and eighth seed Okuhara, who will stand in the way on Sunday. Okuhara reached game-point first, at 20-18, but Sindhu produced her best badminton at this stage to win four points in an unbroken reel.

The Indian was leading 15-14 in the first set before her Japanese counterpart nudged ahead and won five out of the next seven points to take a 17-19 lead. Both players showed great spirit and determination.

She had given away a big lead, which eventually resulted in losing the game. However Bingjiao picked up in the second game taking it on Sindhu with 17-21.

Meanwhile, unseeded Indonesian Anthony Sinisuka Ginting defeated compatriot Jonatan Christie 21-13, 19-21, 22-20 in an hour and eight minutes to clinch the men's title.

The match, pitting together two unseeded players, was far lower in quality than the women's affair. The Japanese attempted a comeback with down-the-line smashes to lessen the gap to 8-12.

The other women's singles semi-finals will be contested between Japanse talents, reigning world champion Nozomi Okuhara and Akane Yamaguchi. The highest number of rally in this match was 56 shots that left both the shuttlers gasp for breath.

The rivalry has grown since then, and even Sindhu felt that her rivalry with Okuhara is the one of the talked about in the circuit now.
