Prime Minister Modi had visited Japan in November a year ago while Abe visited India in December 2015. The Japanese side is convinced that India, a rising power, will stand for respect for global law and will not tolerate rogue actions, and the special relationship between the two Prime Ministers Modi and Abe ensures that.

The ground-breaking ceremony for the project is planned in Ahmadabad on September 14 in presence of the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sharing his schedule, PM wrote, "PM @AbeShinzo and I will attend a wide range of programmes on 13th and 14th September 2017, aimed at further boosting India-Japan ties".

The 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project is likely to have an estimated cost of Rs 1,10,000 crore. After Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit in 2014, Prime Minister Abe is the second world leader to be hosted in Gujarat.

The two leaders will also visit Dandi Kutir, the museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, at the Mahatma Mandir. In Japan, Shinkansen trains run barely three minutes apart, and since drivers can not spot signals due to the high speeds, the whole traffic management is automated.

Pyongyang last week carried out its sixth and biggest nuclear test and Japan's Defence Minister Itsunori Onodera has warned that more provocations could be in store after the United Nations Security Council stepped up sanctions, imposing a ban on North Korea's textile exports and capping its crude oil imports.

"I'd like to draw a parallel to Maruti Suzuki".

Abe's visit is seen as part of his efforts to consolidate the bilateral relationship between Japan and India, which was given a new thrust and heft under his leadership in 2012. Responding to a question on Asia-Africa Growth Corridor, Verma said, talks were going on and India was looking at collaboration with Japan in third countries.

In a published media briefing, Indian railway minister Piyush Goyal, who has been recently appointed to the role, said: "It was envisioned by Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi to take Indian Railways towards most modern technologies like developed countries".

"This loan is to be repaid to Japan in 50 years".

The sanctions were watered down from what the USA had sought, after negotiations with China. "That is still a work in progress", he said.

The two leaders last met in July on the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit in Hamburg, Germany.
