Nintendo Urges Public: Don't Pay More Than $80 for SNES Classic

SNES Classic Production Has Been 'Dramatically Increased,' Says Nintendo

"I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites", he said."You shouldn't pay more than $79.99".

The executive is right - you shouldn't have to pay more than retail for the company's retro-infused gaming system.

According to Reggie Fils-Aime in an interview with Financial Times (via GameSpot), Nintendo "dramatically increased" production for SNES Classic stock. Indeed, pre-orders sold out nearly instantly last month, but Nintendo says it's planning to ramp up production this time rather than ignore the problem.

Nintendo fans are quite excited for the upcoming SNES Classic Edition, however, following the short supply of NES Classic fans are quite skeptical about the status of the available stock for SNES Classic Edition at launch.

Speaking to the FT during a Variety event, Nintendo's USA chief expressed confidence that enough of the consoles are being built to satisfy demand this time around. Indeed, the NES Classic runs for many times over its initial price point at some auction sites.

"Certainly the demand is there and the supply chain is there". After all, judging from how fast its predecessor, the NES Classic, came and went, the same was bound to happen to this 21-game compilation console.

However, given that's never been the company's style, and we can expect more shortages throughout the holiday season.

It's not easy to find a Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo wants you to know that they can't guarantee that it's going to get any easier. But Nintendo officials say there's still a good chance to get what's expected to be one of the holiday season's hottest gifts. Did you learn by hard experience with the NES Classic, surfing eBay and Amazon and seeing all the scumbag scalpers with their multiple units on sale for hundreds of pounds?

If there is one problem which companies are probably okay with having is that the public wants their product too much.
