Three things learned from Arsenal's incredible win vs. Leicester

Leicester back in the shadows after fairytale journey

Substitutes Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud scored as Arsenal twice came from behind to beat Leicester City 4-3 on Friday in a dizzily entertaining opening Premier League game.

The Gunners got off to the flawless start, with record-signing Alexandre Lacazette scoring after just 94 seconds, via his his first-ever shot in the Premier League.

Following Danny Welbeck's leveller in first-half stoppage time, another corner yielded Leicester's third goal as Riyad Mahrez's cross was headed home by Vardy.

Still, not the ideal start for Shakespeare as a manager who has spent plenty of cash ahead of first full season in charge in the Premier League.

But after winning a record seventh FA Cup with victory over Chelsea, he penned a new two-year contract and his side's Houdini act against Leicester means that late-season momentum remains intact, albeit only just.

But he's likely to start from the bench because of an ankle issue.

Arsene Wenger is full of praise for new signing Alexandre Lacazette after his goal in Arsenal's win over Leicester.

With the injured Alexis Sanchez looking on from the stands, Arsenal took the lead inside two minutes as Mohamed Elneny's cross to the centre of the box found Lacazette, who flicked a header inside the post.

One player the Frenchman is backing to adapt to the Premier League quickly is Arsenal's other new summer signing, Sead Kolasinac.

"The quality of their players, their fan base and the money that they can spend, they've always been unsafe", Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare said.

It was Leicester's deadly duo from 2015/16 who combined as Vardy glanced a header into the bottom corner after Mahrez's corner following some more shoddy defending from Arsene Wenger's men.

The forward's header was too accurate for Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and landed right into the corner of the Foxes net.

"I rate him as a player but we have similar types with Alex Iwobi, Mesut Ozil and now Jack Wilshere back".

Arsenal have been relatively quiet on the transfer front this summer, although the business they have done looks shrewd enough. Is he going to do the job of Shinji Okazaki?

Jamie Vardy then capitalised on bad defending to twice put the Foxes ahead either side of Danny Welbeck's equaliser before Arsene Wenger sent on the cavalry.
