Scattered rain & storms for Friday

Fauquier County Tornado

The best chance for showers and storms each day will be in the late morning to early afternoon hours, Bay News 9 meteorologists report. High temperatures will remain in the low to mid 80s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 miles per hour.

There will be a 20 percent chance of rain before 8 a.m. There will be some sun along the way and that should allow highs in the upper 80s to lower 90, but once again, it will be rather muggy. Southwest wind around 9 miles per hour.

Scattered and isolated showers and thunderstorms will form over the foothills Friday and spread to the northern plains by early afternoon.

Friday Night will be mostly cloudy with a couple mainly evening showers and storms possible. Highs will be in the low 80s.

Sunday, the upper level trough responsible for these daily rain chances finally manages to work its way off to the east.

The Weather Prediction Center is projecting more than 3 inches in the Wichita metropolitan area through Saturday, with more than 4 inches in northern Oklahoma.

Saturday night into Sunday continues to bring at least a chance of showers/storms in northeast Kansas but just like Saturday, Sunday has produced uncertainty between the models this week.

Shower and storm coverage increases later during the afternoon and into the evening.

The chance for afternoon storms diminishes Monday through Thursday, although there will still be slight possibilities of rain each afternoon.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, humid, scattered showers/thunderstorms (especially in the morning).

Thursday Night.Mostly cloudy. Small rain chance.

Temperatures are largely the same this morning as the last few, with readings in the lower and middle 60s as you head out the door. Tuesday is a bit milder under partly sunny skies.
