Bills trade Watkins to Rams; get Matthews from Eagles

Well the Eagles have a made a move to get cornerback

Wide receiver Jordan Matthews was dealt to the Buffalo Bills along with a 2018 third-round pick for cornerback Ronald Darby.

The Buffalo Bills executed not only one, but two notable trades on Friday morning.

The 5-11, 193-pound Darby was a second-round draft pick of the Bills in 2015. There were just 26 wide receivers who saw at least a 20 percent share of their teams targets previous year, and with the company surrounding Matthews, it's hard to say he'd even get that. Matthews and Wentz were close friends and it was Matthews who caught Wentz's first career touchdown pass in last season's opener. He also had 2,673 receiving yards and 19 TD receptions. Through his first two seasons Darby has only missed three games with 137 tackles, 33 passes defensed, and two interceptions.

The Bills recently declined their fifth-year contract option on Watkins, so he is set to become a free agent at the end of this season.

The Bills' decision to trade their top receiver and top cornerback for future draft picks signals that first-year general manager Brandon Beane and coach Sean McDermott view the Bills as a long-term rebuilding project.

Brooks, who was in line to be the Eagles' slot corner this season, suffered a hamstring injury in the Eagles' 24-9 loss at Green Bay on Thursday night. A three-time Atlantic Coast Conference champion, Darby was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2012 and helped the Seminoles win the BCS National Championship in 2013. White now projects as the Bills' top cornerback this season with Gaines likely to start opposite him. Because the Rams and the Bills have new offensive schemes this year, it's tough to really evaluate how these receivers will fare in their new homes, but obviously that's not going to stop us from trying.

The Buffalo Bills traded for Eagles WR Jordan Matthews who seems to be Watkins' replacement. Matthews is a talented young player with loads of potential.

"I'd love to have some continuity there".

Before we get into Darby and what he brings to the Eagles, let's talk about what the Eagles are losing in Matthews.
