Florida mother charged with murder was headed to Buffalo

Erica Newsome

"It was obvious that the 11-year-old did not die from injuries from the accident", State Police Sergeant Herby Barlow said.

"I can't even wrap my head around what even would have made [my wife] snap", Plummer told the station.

'At this time, foul play is suspected in the child's death and we believe the death occurred in Jacksonville, Florida, ' the sheriff's office there said.

Newsome, 37, was arrested on charges of concealing the body of her daughter, Kaye-lea Plummer, according to the Associated Press.

Newsome and the body of her daughter were found on an old logging road about 150 feet away from the crash site, State Police Sgt. The father says that he hasn't seen his daughter since 2014 after the couple separated. "The child was placed in the vehicle early Saturday morning and she headed toward Buffalo, New York".

A Florida woman was arrested after a pair of NY motorists traveling through West Virginia spotted her pulling the body of a child out of her crashed vehicle and then dragging it into the woods.

"Something pushed her over the edge and she snapped", he told News 4 Jax. They said they sat frozen as she dragged the body over an embankment and into the woods.

Troopers found Newsome over a nearby embankment approximately 150 feet away from the vehicle in Thornwood. Reports from West Virginia say Newsome confessed to killing and abusing Kaye-Lea.

On August 6th, West Virigina Police responded to a vehicle accident near the Virginia/West Virginia state line.

Newsome was reportedly en route to where the girl's father and Newsome's estranged husband, Donath Plummerm, lives in Buffalo, N.Y. Police said the girl did not die as a result of any injuries suffered in the crash.

Plummer described his wife as a "great mother" and "the only person I trusted with my child", and said he couldn't understand why she would have hurt their daughter.

The body of the deceased child was discovered Sunday after a vehicle wreck on a remote stretch of U.S. Route 250 in Pocahontas County just over a mile from the Virginia border.

"I just wish I could have been there", Plummer said of his daughter.
