Iran's Supreme Leader confirms Rowhani as president

Supreme Leader of Iran Formally Endorses Rouhani After Re-Election as President

"The enthusiastic turnout of 42 million people in the polls indicated the people's belief in the Revolution's ideals and their eagerness for participation in determining the Islamic country's destiny", the minister said in President Hassan Rouhani's endorsement ceremony held in Tehran on Thursday.

During his election campaign for a second term in office, Hassan Rouhani, 68, pledged to deliver on his campaign promises of creating a freer society and improving the economic situation in the country.

The solemn inauguration ceremony of the re-elected Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will be held on August 5.

He continued "the government is trying to preserve people's right and this is possible only via law-obeying culture in the counry".

Rouhani vowed to continue his efforts to end the country's isolation as he was sworn in by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to serve his second term following his re-election in May.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei urged the Iranian administration to show strength and resolve in the face of hegemonic powers, the U.S. in particular.

"The meeting has twofold importance: first, it's the start of a new management term for Iran; secondly, it's a symbol of democracy".

"Islamic Republic must strongly stand against any hegemonic power; surrenduring to bullying powers brings misery to the nation and is much costlier that standing against them", he warned the officials.

On foreign policies, Leader underlined that "international interaction must not make us neglect enemy's plots as some of foreign states just seek destruction of Iran", he said.
