Vidal says 'smart ass' Ronaldo 'does not exist' to him

Michael Boxall competes with Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo said Portugal should have their eye on winning the Confederations Cup after securing a place in the semi-finals after a 4-0 win over New Zealand in St Petersburg.

After steering Portugal to the Euro 2016 title in Paris a year ago, Ronaldo will want to claim a second global title in Monday morning's Confederations Cup final in St Petersburg, against Mexico or Germany who meet in the other semi-final on Friday morning. - Either Portugal or Chile will become the first nation to reach the final in their Confederations Cup debut since France in 2001 - the French had won the European Championship in the previous year, as Portugal have done.

Portugal drew their first game 2-2 against Mexico, although wins over Russian Federation and New Zealand saw them top Group A. Ronaldo has netted in both of their victories so far.

Portugal, meanwhile, set up this semi-final clash with two wins against Russian Federation and New Zealand as well as a draw with Mexico in their group.

Head coach Fernando Santos opted to rest none of his forward line and it has been a long season for the likes of Ronaldo, Joao Moutinho, Andre Gomes and Bernardo Silva.

Manchester City new boy Silva, 22, went down clutching his right foot after scoring in Saturday's win over New Zealand.

"But it's going to be hard to play against us too, we'll go toe-to-toe and try to win". Left-back Raphael Guerreiro is struggling with a bruised foot from the win over Russian Federation.

"We are very happy to be in the semi-finals", he said.

"Mexico is going to be a tough game, they are a very flexible team with very good players", said Loew, who became the first head coach to achieve 100 worldwide wins, following the Germans' 3-1 victory over Cameroon on Sunday.

"We're obviously at a disadvantage", Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi said.

"They are a very dynamic team with a lot of movement and are not an easy team to analyse".

"It is hard to win the Euro, which includes numerous best teams in the world, and they have the world's best player".

"We know we've played some really good football at times". "Obviously he is a world-class player, but nobody is afraid of him".
