London police report 'incident' on London Bridge

Breaking News Stabbing pedestrians hit by van on London Bridge

A van is reported to have ploughed into pedestrians on the bridge and people were reportedly stabbed at the popular food market in south London.

London's Metropolitan Police have not issued a report, saying only that an "incident" occurred on the bridge.

London Ambulance Services said on Twitter at least 20 patients were taken to six different hospitals in the area.

One witness, Will Heaven, told Sky News he saw people who had been struck and at least one of them was placed inside an ambulance.

The attack began when a van traveling at a high speed deliberately crashed into pedestrians near London Bridge. More than one person was killed during the attacks, according to the BBC.

Armed police are also responding to an incident in the adjacent district of Borough Market, where witnesses reported hearing gunfire which unconfirmed reports say involved police in pursuit of possible suspects related to the London Bridge developments.

Authorities said they were aware of the reports but would not release more information until they could confirm the facts.

Metropolitan Police said in a tweet that "the incidents at #LondonBridge & #BoroughMarket were declared as terrorist incidents" and appeared to be connected. But they said later that turned out to be an unrelated stabbing.

On Twitter, Trump sent out several messages, promising to do "whatever the United States can do to help out".

The US embassy in London tweeted: "Please avoid the area and monitor local news/@metpoliceuk for updates". London Bridge and Borough Tube stations were evacuated and remain closed. Witness Elsbeth Smedley told CNN that a man ran into Elliot restaurant in Borough Market and stabbed two people before running out.

Some netizens witnessed the incident tweeted that they saw people got injured and the police has come to deal with it.

I'd say there are about four severely injured people.

The terrorists also tried to storm into a busy pub in the nearby Borough Market, where a man was reportedly stabbed five times in the chest.

The witness said the van hit five to six people.
