Argentina must pay £1.3m to hire manager Jorge Sampaoli

Jorge Sampaoli seems set to swap Sevilla for Argentina

Sampaoli said last week he could not "turn down" again the opportunity to coach his native Argentina.

Sampaoli, under contract with Sevilla until 2018, will replace sacked boss Edgardo Bauza next month after an agreement was reached between the two sides, but the Spanish club want a compensation fee to cut short his deal.

Jorge Sampaoli who spent just one year at Sevilla and finished 4 in the league has reportedly agreed to coach Argentina next.

This principle of agreement is pending of the drafting and presentation of the pertinent documents.

"All parties are satisfied by the agreement that has been reached".

The statement continued: "The figure implicated in the clause to release Sampaoli from his contract has not been compromised in discussions between Sevilla FC and the AFA, who have acted as Sampaoli's representative".

The former Chile coach was offered the job last August shortly after taking the helm of Sevilla but made a decision to remain in charge of the club.

Argentina are ready to turn to Sampaoli in a bid to save their chances of qualifying for Russian Federation 2018, after parting company with Edgardo Bauza in April.

Now the 57-year old has a hard task ahead of him to win Argentina's remaining games and qualify automatically for the World cup.

Sampaoli enjoyed a largely successful solo season in charge at the Sanchez Pizjuan as he led Sevilla to fourth in La Liga behind the might of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Argentina take on Brazil in Melbourne on June 9 and they play at Singapore a week later. Only the top four sides will qualify directly for the tournament in Russian Federation.
