Melissa McCarthy adds spice (and Spicer) as host of 'SNL'

Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Sanders Holds White House Press Briefing

Let us know what you think in comments.

"Spicy" made an appearance during McCarthy's landmark fifth "SNL" hosting stint, emerging from the bushes to take over a briefing from Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders (played by Aidy Bryant).

I imagine this is sort of what it was like for Imperial officers to give Darth Vader bad news in The Empire Strikes Back. "He's trying to blend in with his surroundings", she said.

McCarthy's Spicer - enraged over his apparent replacement -ousted Ms Sanders from the podium before turning upon the assembled journalists with his usual ire.

But here's the troubling news.

(CNN) - President Donald Trump denied allegations of collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives in an interview Saturday night on Fox News, adding that he wants "to get to the bottom" of the questions about Russian influence in the election.

Not long ago Trump appeared happy with Spicer because, he said, "That guy gets great ratings". With the White House's reasoning for FBI Director James Comey's dismissal changing constantly like a fickle wind, McCarthy's skit nearly felt like a preferable reality. Trump was asked if he could assure the nation he wouldn't name someone "crazy" to replace ousted FBI Director James Comey.

"Can you just do this full time?" one reporter asked.

Does this spell the end for Spicey? Like Baldwin, McCarthy has effectively turned into an honorary cast member, thanks to her Spicer. "I took vows", McCarthy replied. There's a fear that comedy will minimize the grave risks Trump poses to America - at least as seen by those who oppose him.

"I did. I fired him because of Russia", Trump told an incredulous Holt.

Reporter: "I'm pretty sure I can see him hiding in those bushes". It then shows footage of McCarthy as Spicer riding the podium through the streets of NY. Ultimately, Comey's firing is traced to "Trump's good friend" Jeff Sessions who's symbolized by Pikachu.

"Have you ever told me to say things that aren't true?" an exhausted Spicer asked Trump, played by Alec Baldwin. Trump/Baldwin responded, "Only since you started working here".

Trump then goes in for a kiss, only to have Spice protest that he is married.

But the pivotal moment is when McCarthy whips out some nesting dolls to explain how the Trump administration could botch the dismissal of someone even liberals wanted fired.
