Acting FBI Director Tells US Senators No Effort To Impede Russia Investigations

President Trump asked former FBI Director James Comey a few times about whether he could be loyal over the course of a dinner meeting, according to sources familiar with the meeting.

Trump's abrupt decision to fire Comey earlier this week has come under criticism, particularly from Democrats who question why the president removed him in the middle of an FBI investigation into Trump associates' contacts with Russian Federation. "Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe on Thursday directly contradicted a claim by the White House that the "rank and file" at the FBI had lost faith in recently fired Director James Comey".

The Democrats are outraged at the thought that Mr. Trump, though he denies it, may have fired the director because the Federal Bureau of Investigation boss was investigating the president.

President Donald Trump has said the allegation made against him that the Russian interference in elections helped him win, is a "made up story" by the Democrats who lost badly past year. "I don't see that as a conflict of interest", Sanders said yesterday.

Comey, who was sacked from his high-ranking position Tuesday evening, only promised that he could be honest, the sources told ABC News. Adam Schiff of California, said that Trump should hand over any such tapes to lawmakers - or publicly admit none actually exist.

O'Donnell's original remark was in response to the bureau chief's decision to inform the U.S. of an investigation into Hillary Clinton in the run-up to the presidential election.

The White House has given various accounts and explanations for Comey's firing. The Clinton investigation was closed in early November, and Mr Trump has been in office since 20 January.

Later, Trump tweets that Comey was "the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds".

"If you've seen him under sworn testimony, he just doesn't comment on things he's not supposed to".

Mr Comey chose to announce there would be no investigation because, the letter says, "he believed Attorney General Loretta Lynch had a conflict".

May 9, 2017 - In a shocking move, Trump fires Comey.

"I want to find out if there was a problem with an election having to do with Russian Federation". Gomez said. "I'm sure that kind of question would have made Mr. Comey very uncomfortable and he would have avoided being specific".

At the briefing Friday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer - whose job Trump told Fox News Channel was safe amid reports that it might not be - avoided directly discussing Trump's threat to cancel the custom, saying only that Trump was "dismayed" with the news media.

Trump asserts in Thursday's interview he would have fired Comey even if top Justice Department officials had not recommended it, calling former President Barack Obama's appointee "a showboat".

At the center of the scrutiny is whether Rosenstein was instructed to draft a memo justifying Comey's dismissal or whether he made a decision to write the document without direction.
