Apple schedules WWDC 2017 for June, starts sending invites

Apple has started sending out invitations to the Worldwide Developers Conference that will be held on June 5.

It will be the first time since 2002 that the company has held its annual developers conference in San Jose.

After the keynote, WWDC will run through June 9 for the rest of the events, and like every year, it is reported that the headlining announcements will be software updates for the major operating systems that Apple runs, including iOS 11, macOS 10.13, tvOS 11, and watchOS 4.

This year's conference will take place in San Jose, a location closer to Apple's campus.

The original WWDC invite to developers said "Technology alone is not enough. This summer we bring together thousands of brilliant minds representing many diverse perspectives, passions, and talents to help us change the world".

A recent report reveals that Apple is already having its Siri-enabled smart speaker tested by employees in their homes, and they've been testing it for months.

Or perhaps we'll hear about smarter version of Siri - a smart speaker which will operate on Apple digital voice assistant Siri.

iOS 11 is claimed to include a new social network created by Apple. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple this year at WWDC might unveil its Siri-based Amazon Echo competitor, a device Apple has reportedly been working on for quite some time. Apple could also use the platform to announce the updated version of the iPad Pro 12.9, which was originally launched in September 2015.
