FA chief defends Manchester United over Pogba deal

MANCHESTER ENGLAND- AUGUST 19 Paul Pogba of Manchester United reacts after failing to score during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Southampton at Old Trafford

Federation Internationale de Football Association has opened an investigation into France superstar Paul Pogba's world record 2016 transfer from Italian team Juventus to English Premier League giants Manchester United.

A statement from football's governing body on Tuesday said: "We can confirm that FIFA/TMS has been requesting information on the transfer".

French midfielder Pogba was transferred for more than £89.3 million ($111 million, 105.2 million euros) in August 2016 from Italian club Juventus.

The report from Mediaset also leaks some of the finer details of Pogba's contract with the Red Devils, with the Frenchman seemingly earning 10.2 million Euro this season, rising to 13.8 million from next September. The question is simple.

Pogba has been one of the many victims of United's recent injury crisis, which has forced manager José Mourinho forced to draft some of United's talented youngsters into his first-team. Since his return to United as world's most expensive footballer, Pogba has scored seven goals in 48 games this season.

"And by our side, I mean the player's side".

However, Clarke feels it is unhelpful for Fifa to "demonise" United and instead feels a wider conversation about the role of agents in football is required. Raiola declined to comment to The Times.

The Premier League responded to his comments, saying: "We will be writing to Mr Holt to ask him if he wishes the Premier League to continue the support we now provide for his and other clubs in the EFL".

United are set to finish outside the Premier League's top four despite capturing two of the biggest names in football on jaw-dropping contracts, negotiated by agent Mino Raiola.

"If we can win the Europa League, that will be three trophies in his first season".
