EVMs can be tampered in 90 secs: Kejriwal

AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj demonstrated how an EVM can be hacked during the Assembly's special session on Tuesday.

Give us access to the EVMs that will be used in the Gujarat elections for only three hours.

"The ECI can give us its machines, we will show how to hack it in 90 seconds by merely changing its motherboard", Kejriwal told reporters outside the assembly.

Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled an All Political Parties meeting on 12th May 2017 for EVM Issues and other Electoral Reforms. Outside the House, he levelled a series of allegations against the government, Kejriwal and Jain.

Interestingly, leaders of the Congress, the Trinamool Congress, the Janata Dal (United) and the Rastriya Janata Dal were present on the gallery of the House when Bhardwaj staged the demonstration. AAP then questioned the credibility of his win alleging that EVMs were not tamper-proof as claimed by the poll panel. "In 90 seconds the motherboard can be changed". He also claimed he was a "100% sure" that the EVMs had been botched up to prevent AAP from winning the Punjab Assembly elections earlier this year. It is unsafe for democracy and the country.

Sisodia said the issue of tampering of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) can not be brushed aside by merely terming it a technical snag.

During the demonstration, Bhardwaj showed that how votes polled in favour of AAP can be transfered to the BJP. Of this, eight AAP MLAs, excluding Ms. Lamba, hit out against the BJP and the Centre.

AAP MLA and computer engineer Saurabh Bhardwaj carried out the demonstration, insisting that the BJP has been gaining due to EVM rigging. After entering a secret code, Bhardwaj pressed 10 votes for the AAP but the display board showed that the votes went to the BJP.

"EVM tampering is a very serious issue because several freedom fighters had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of this country. But I want to tell that EVM manipulation is a bitter truth which sooner or later have to be accepted", he said.

The Election Commission, which maintains that EVMs can not be programmed to favour any party, did not officially react.

He said parties use a secret code to sway votes.

"Kejriwal diverting public attention from governance-failure and corruption", he tweeted.

Saurabh Bhardwaj during the demonstration on EVM tampering. However, the voting machine the Greater Kailash MLA used was a dummy of what the Election Commission actually uses during polling.

She had pointed to the BJP's vote share in Muslim majority areas to substantiate her argument that that it would not have been possible for the saffron party to get that many votes in those areas, if not for EVM fraud.
