President Trump Nominates 10 for Federal Courts

Michigan Supreme Court Justice Joan Larsen was nominated for the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, while Minnesota Supreme Court Justice David Stras was tapped for the 8th Circuit Court.

Building off his highly successful appointment of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, Fox News reported that Trump has a strong list of constitutional conservatives that he's ready to announce.

Trump will also name several additional nominees to the federal appeals court, along with a handful of federal district court nominees.

During his presidential campaign, Trump had released a list of jurists he said he would choose from to pick his Supreme Court nominee.

But one area where these nominations can have a huge impact is the federal courts.

The judicial nominations are the first of several that Trump is expected to announce during his first term as he now faces 129 vacancies in the federal court system.

The Trump administration will name almost a dozen federal judges as nominees for key posts today.

It would take congressional action to break up the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The White House selected the nominees with help.

The massive opportunity allows Trump to shift the political imbalance now on our court system, which will be vital as left-leaning courts continually overrule him on his most important executive orders.

Federal courts have blocked Trump's proposed travel ban and his order to withhold funding from communities that limit cooperation with immigration authorities. He told reporters that more nominations should be expected in the weeks ahead.
