Labour leader Corbyn says could suspend Syria air strikes if elected

Appearing on Radio Four's Week in Westminster, he said: "It is party policy to renew Trident".

Labour now only holds Edinburgh South, down from 41 seats before the 2015 ballot that saw the SNP tsunami sweep 56 out of the 59 Scottish seats. The UK Independence Party has lost its leader and its goal since convincing enough English voters to take the country out of the European Union.

Since the shock Leave vote in last June's referendum on United Kingdom membership of the European Union, hostility to Corbyn's leadership on the part of the Labour right has become entwined with efforts to reverse or mitigate the result.

The Labour leader repeatedly refused to be drawn on whether he would be prepared to authorise a drone strike on the leader of IS, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, if British intelligence discovered his whereabouts.

The leader of Britain's main opposition Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn said on Sunday he could suspend British involvement in air strikes against Syria if he was elected prime minister at a June 8 election.

In his interview, Sir Patrick sought to contrast Mr Corbyn as a "rebel without a cause" in the Labour Party with Mrs May's record in office as home secretary and Prime Minister.

"With Theresa May's record as home secretary and the way she's conducted herself since she's been Prime Minister, I don't think anybody can be in doubt as to how serious she takes those responsibilities and is really on top of the detail".

"We will give all workers equal rights from day one to stop some workers being exploited and others undercut", he said.

She'll say the general election is "a two-horse race between the SNP and hard-line Tories".

She said voters face a choice between "two nationalistic parties which will tear the United Kingdom apart" in the Conservatives and the SNP and "a Labour Party which will put the people first". And now the Tory hard-liners want to take over the country.

"He (Mr Corbyn) accepted hard Brexit, he voted for it".

At the Huffington Post, Leon Spence, a former Labour councillor who defected to the Conservatives following Corbyn's second election victory past year, calls on Tory activists to go "toe to toe" with Labour campaigners.

"Let me be clear - there will be no deals with the SNP or anybody else".

He told the Daily Telegraph: "Jeremy Corbyn, unlike many of his distinguished predecessors in the Labour Party from Clement Attlee through Dennis Healey and beyond, has demonstrated why he should not be trusted with the ultimate responsibility of government - that of the nation's defence and security". He is railing against rigged systems, putting the people before the powerful and defining his enemies.
