Portland's Nurkic out Game 2, Warriors' Durant questionable

Especially against a star studded team like the Warriors.

Portland Trail Blazers forward Maurice Harkless, left, and Al-Farouq Aminu sit on the bench during the second half of Game 1 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland, Calif., Sunday, April 16, 2017.

A sea of yellow adorned the Oracle Arena during Game 1 of Warriors-Blazers series Sunday afternoon. "That's totally the expectation but you've got to be careful with this stuff, too".

Though much can happen over the course of a playoff series, Golden State's performance against Portland shows that they have this matchup under control. Last year's NBA Finals result - Cleveland 4, Golden State 3 - still has numerous Warriors folks reaching for the antacids.

Durant missed 19 games with a sprained MCL and bone bruise in his left knee to close out the year.

Kerr said he didn't expect Durant to be sidelined for long.

"For me, it's just going to make me raise the level of my game because I take [Green's trash talk] as a challenge", Lillard said.

Even with the danger of McCollum and Lillard shooting lights-out, Golden State found themselves victorious at the end of the game behind a final quarter run that asserted their dominance as the Western Conference's most lethal team. And that Green, shot-blocking, smack-talking, bicep-flexing phenomenon that he is, can do more to energize a crowd nearly jaded by the frequency of great shooting performances than maybe any other Warrior. We got through a month without him (Durant). The 6-foot-7 wing can hold his own defensively.

"I would like to play but I think I'm not ready, so I'm not going to play in second (game)", said Nurkić.

The Warriors should beat the Blazers with or without Durant. "Damian and CJ, if they get 80 between them, we still need to score another 40 or 50 somewhere". Portland's depth is another issue- only two other Blazers players, Maurice Harkless and Evan Turner, scored over ten points (11 and 12, respectively). Lillard and McCollum combined for 75 points and took 54 field goal attempts. Green emphatically blocked a shot by Noah Vonleh in the third as the Portland center playing in place of Nurkic was going up with one hand to dunk.
