Walden says he's skeptical of proposal for Obamacare reform bill

Jordan speaking Tuesday to members of the Midwest Electric Co-op and employees about health care reform

Conservatives praised Young for his opposition to the bill that would have undone much of Barack Obama's health care law.

The television and digital ads that began Thursday are part of a $1 million ad buy from the Club for Growth.

The proposed second Republican attempt at a new health care bill would include all of the above but also include exclusions for pre-existing medical conditions, pregnancy, maternity, newborn and several other essential health care coverages.

Meadows and fellow members of the House Freedom Caucus have been urging Republican leaders to put forth legislation that tackles the rising cost of health insurance premiums.

Before members left Washington, Republicans unveiled a late change to the health care bill, called the American Health Care Act, after President Donald Trump urged them to make some progress on the proposal. So, who's standing in the way?

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows said Republicans are growing closer to a consensus on repealing and replacing Obamacare and are presenting a plan to House Speaker Paul Ryan Tuesday.

"At end of the day, I have to vote yes or no based on how it will affect my constituents", Dent said.

Working with Democrats, he said, would require Republicans to scrap the current health care bill and start over.

He also questioned why some of the GOP legislators were targeted by the ad campaign.

The ads will air in the districts of Representative Greg Walden of OR, the chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee, and Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen of New Jersey, head of the Appropriations Committee. Greg Walden, had pushed the measure through the House panel he chairs, the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Lawmakers are still at work, despite a two-week recess, according to the report.
