Coroner: London attacker killed by gunshot wound to chest

Police work at Carriage Gate outside the Houses of the Parliament in London

The Metropolitan Police Federation said linking hands shows 'we will not be divided.

Another woman who was there, Sarah Waseem, said the Islam faith "totally condemns violence of any sort".

"I also offer my condolences to the families of those who died and those who are injured".

Adjourning the inquest for police to carry out their investigations, Dr Wilcox told the family members in the court: "I wish you all well".

Westminster attacker Khalid Masood died from a single gunshot wound to the chest, an inquest has heard.

He then fatally stabbed police officer Keith Palmer while trying to enter Parliament before being shot dead by another officer.

The mourners also observed a minute's silence at the very moment on Mar 22 when Khalid Masood ploughed his auto into a crowd in a rampage that killed three people on Westminster Bridge in the shadow of Big Ben.

Police say there's no evidence that Masood was directly linked to the Islamic State group or al-Qaida.

On Monday, the Met said Masood had a clear interest in terror and his methods echoed the rhetoric of ISIS leaders.

The police officer added that there has been much speculation about who Masood was in contact with immediately prior to the attack and his communications that day remain a line of enquiry.

Zafir Malik, an imam from the association, said the group wanted to show the attack had nothing to do with Islam.

As Basu appealed for anyone who spoke to Masood on the day of the attack to come forward, the British government repeated calls for tech companies to give police and intelligence services access to encrypted messages exchanged by terrorism suspects.

The bridge, still adorned with floral tributes to the victims, was closed to traffic while the Hands Across Westminster Bridge vigil took place.

Inquests were opened Wednesday for those killed in the attack: Palmer, age 48; British college administrator Aysha Frade, age 44; U.S. tourist Kurt Cochran, age 54; and 75-year-old south London resident Leslie Rhodes, whose life support was turned off Thursday.

The inquest into Masood's death will be opened and adjourned on Thursday.

Masood used the messaging service WhatsApp just before he began his attack.

Mr Cochran, whose wife Melissa was taken to hospital after suffering a broken leg, rib and cut head, died at the scene on Westminster Bridge from multiple injuries after being hit by the auto, while Mrs Frade suffered head and chest injuries, also dying on the bridge.

They were sent at a time when Russian soldiers and military personnel are in Syria fighting the same ideology responsible for killing those five people in London.
