Sen. Bernie Sanders Has His Own Podcast

Can the president attack another country without Congress?

Top Democrats including Bernie Sanders and Tim Kaine have accused President Donald Trump of lacking the authority to bypass Congress and launch missiles at Syria.

"We'll be traveling - and Tom will be traveling with me - to traditionally conservative states", Sanders, an independent progressive from Vermont, said. "I think he has got to explain to us what his long-term goals are", Sanders told NBC's "Meet the Press". Patrick Leahy and Rep. The United States has placed blame for the attack on Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Both senators calls on the Trump administration to put forth a clear plan of action so that Congress and the American people can decide whether or not to support continued military strikes. "It's absolutely absurd that the Democratic Party has turned its back on working people in literally half the country", Sanders said in the Post. USA officials say the airstrip was used to launch the chemical attack.

The Bernie Sanders Show, which first appeared as videos on Facebook, is now streaming on iTunes and the senator's website with three episodes dating back to March 27, 28 and 29.

"We are a nation where you're not supposed to initiate military action, start war, without a plan that's presented to and approved by Congress", he said. In his own statement, Leahy said, "The president is now required to give Congress notification under the War Powers Act".

A Democrat, Leahy said Friday that US military force should be used in self-defense or part of a larger strategy in conjunction with global partners, and with the broad support of the American people.

"As the Constitution requires, the president must come to Congress to authorize any further use of force" against the country, he added.

Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders also urged the president to learn from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan "in which the lives of thousands of courageous American men and women and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi and Afghan civilians have been lost and trillions of dollars spent".
