Clinton shares thoughts on Syria at fundraiser in Houston

Clinton, who was speaking to The New York Times reporter Nicholas Kristof at the Women in the World summit, said she still can not fathom that 53% of white women voted for her rival Donald Trump.

"It was really the weaponisation of information, something that Putin has used inside Russian Federation, outside Russia to great effect that I didn't fully understand how impactful that was", she said.

"Look, Syria's been a wicked problem for a very long time and the images of innocent people, of parents and especially children suffering in the aftermath of that most recent deadly gas attack were more appalling than I certainly can put into words", Clinton said at an event in Texas.

Curiously, she made that observation in response to a question about why white women didn't vote for her.

"We can not in one breath speak of protecting Syrian babies, and in the next, close America's doors to them", she said. "There are so many examples in just the first 100 days", she said.

Palestinian writer and activist İyad el-Baghdadi also told The Independent: "The logical position of someone who supports the USA strikes on Assad should be to limit his capacity for slaughter, and make him face outcome. The role the U.S. plays in the world matters", Clinton said. Oh, and she revealed that she is working on another book.

"The things that come out of some of these men's mouths, like 'Why do we have to cover maternity care?' Oh I don't know, maybe you were dropped by Immaculate Conception?"

Clinton also expressed her confusion at the government's attacks on certain groups of people - Muslims and women in particular.

And when asked about her life, she said: "As a person, I'm okay".

Russian President Vladimir Putin, she said, wanted to destabilise Europe, NATO and the United States and was personally opposed to her after she criticised Russian elections while secretary of state. Clinton said both the men are not fond of strong women. "And that just has to be admitted", Clinton told an audience of about 3,000 people at the Women in the World Summit in NY on Thursday. The former senator also indicated that she plans to now work to encourage young women to follow their dreams by running for office. I think he had his desire to destabilize us and others.
