Airbnb host banned after sending racist messages to Asian woman

Dyne Suh, an Asian-American woman from Southern California, says she booked reservations at an Airbnb host's cabin in Big Bear about a month before she planned to arrive for a snowy ski weekend with friends.

The Washington Post reports that the company declined to indicate additional details on the cancellation or if the host has had prior complaints.

"She says "Absolutely not.you must be high if you think that that would be ok in the busiest weekend in Big Bear" and she cancelled the trip".

The group set out on February 17 for the cabin and encountered a harsh winter storm with flash-flood warnings and unsafe driving conditions. The host then abruptly canceled the reservation and denied ever confirming it, despite screenshots that Suh offered to prove the reservation.

Suh said she and her friends drove around in the snow for two hours before finding shelter at a cabin.

"I wouldn't rent it to u if u were the last person on earth", the host told Suh in a text message exchange". But she went on to call Suh a "con artist" and "One word says it all".

The story was shared in an YouTube video, which has been viewed more than 100,000 times since it was posted Wednesday.

"I asked the woman again, is it OK if my two friends come, like should we give you cash?" says Suh in the video.

"We can't have foreigners telling us what to do", the host responded, according to Suh.

In the video posted on YouTube this week, a tearful Ms Suh said she had been a United States citizen for more than two decades. "If you're Asian, then you're less than human. and people can treat you like trash".

Dyne Suh is a 25-year-old law student from California.

The host, meanwhile, had no comment when reached by NBC Los Angeles, the station reports.

We believe that no matter who you are, where you are from, or where you travel, you should be able to belong in the Airbnb community.

"This host has been permanently removed from the platform".

Under a new "Open Doors" policy, Airbnb said it would guarantee alternate lodging for a guest who was unable to book an Airbnb listing because of discrimination. She cancelled on us when we were three minutes away from the house, we're three minutes away. "No matter what class you are, no matter what your education level, no matter if you're an American citizen - what they see is that I'm Asian, what they see is my race and this is how we get treated".

'We have worked to provide the guest with our full support.
