With revamp, MTV brings iconic award show into new era

Richards GOP plan boosts unplanned pregnancy

Workaholics alum Adam Devine will host this year's inaugural MTV Movie & TV Awards, the network announced Wednesday.

"Get Out", written and directed by comedian Jordan Peele, earned six nominations including for movie of the year, best actor for star Daniel Kaluuya, best villain and a new category called "best fight against the system". This year the coolest awards show in the calendar will honour TV and streaming as well as film - so you can thank your fave stars for your Netflix binge sessions too!

Until this year, the annual awards show was known as the MTV Movie Awards, and only honored big-screen accomplishments, dating back to 1992.

TV comedy-drama Atlanta, fantasy series Game Of Thrones, films Hidden Figures, Logan and Moonlight, and Mandy Moore's TV drama This Is Us are all on three nominations at the moment. Donald Glover's Atlanta, and Issa Rae's Insecure were both revealed to be amongst the nominations for the first ever category at the upcoming award show.

Best American Story will be given to a show or film that shows the United States at its "open and diverse" best, while Best Fight Against the System honours a creation whose characters will not be defeated by oppression. The show will take place on 7th May 2017 from La La Land itself, with the party going down at Los Angeles's Shrine Auditorium. MTV said "best fight against the system" (formerly best fight) will recognize the TV show or movie whose characters exemplify a fight "against a system that tries to keep them down".
