Ms. Pac-Man Fully Playable in Google Maps Right Now

Gotham Nottinghamshire

Depending on the location when you open Google Maps, the game will be played over the area.

The game works as you'd expect: Find a desirable location in the app and press the Ms. Pac-Man button that should be on the main screen by now.

This was followed up on April Fool's Day 2015 when the desktop version of Google Maps was given the same road-transforming treatment as today's mobile version. Once the game ends you can share your high score with friends.

Ms Pac-Man came out one year after the original Pac-Man debuted in 1980.

For those unfamiliar, Ms. Pac-Man is an arcade video game from the Golden Age.

If you thought you would avoid April Fools' Day gags and pranks this year because the actual day falls on a Saturday, think again.

April Fools Day can be a divisive time. On the web version, you can turn on Ms. Pac-Man by clicking a button in the bottom left; the arrow keys are then used to control your character. In the Maps app for phones and tablets, the company has placed a mini Ms. Pac-Man game that basically resembles the real thing. This became hugely popular and was later put back online just so people could keep playing it. Although, it seems like Apple users has the option to choose the location. You can now play the classic arcade game on the streets where you live (or, say, Manhattan, or Paris, or anywhere else).

"Ms. Pac-Man" has had a slightly uncomfortable position in the Pac world.
