Jong Nam's identity confirmed with son's DNA sample

Malaysian Embassy staff member Mohd Nor Azrin Md Zain and his family are still trapped in Pyongyang as a measure taken by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un

"So we hope that those people will respond and come forward to claim the body".

Mr Zahid said on Wednesday that authorities obtained DNA from one of Mr Kim's children.

Kim Jong Nam had two gold chains around his neck, one with a pendant engraved with family portraits which "links him directly to his next of kin", the New Straits Times newspaper said, adding that physical features such as tattoos and moles on the body also been useful.

"It's an effort to preserve the body, because if it is kept in the mortuary it might decompose", he told reporters.

The body was secretly taken out of the morgue for the embalming on Sunday night, avoiding the attention of dozens of media representatives stationed outside.

Malaysia is "looking into all possibilities" to secure the freedom of the nine Malaysians now stranded in North Korea.

Zahid said the two countries are still negotiating, but did not elaborate.

Despite a retaliatory ban on some 1,000 North Koreans leaving Malaysia, Hamidi also said that 50 illegal North Korean workers are being deported.

Malaysia had previously been referring to the victim as Kim Chol - the name used on Kim Jong Nam's North Korean passport - and had refused to make an alternate declaration on his identity until DNA evidence had been provided.

Who killed Kim Jong-nam?

Kim Jong-nam was assassinated last month in Kuala Lumpur.

He explained that as the match was originally part of Matchday 1 calendar of the qualifications, the postponed North Korea-Malaysia tie must be played before the second matchday on June 13.

Ying Wang of China, North Korea's main ally, said Beijing was "against the politicization of human rights issues" while seeking dialogue and de-escalation on the peninsula. In fact, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak squarely accused North Korea of orchestrating the murder.

"If North Korea is not able to find a neutral venue, AFC will decide the venue for them by May 8", he said.

A Vietnamese woman and an Indonesian woman have been charged in the case.
