JCC leaders demand Sessions be a 'stronger partner' against continued threats

When Cincinnati's Mayerson Jewish Community Center was hit with a bomb threat on January 18, Adam Bellows was satisfied with how the staff handled the preschool kids, including his two-year-old son.

Police declined to release details on the contents of the threat, which was reported at 9:30 a.m. EST (1430 GMT).

The NYPD have called for a Level 1 Mobilization response.

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo traveled to the scene, where he was briefed by security officials.

The gunman, a Lebanese immigrant, killed 16-year-old Ari Halberstam in 1994.

The kids, said Bellows, had no idea the threat had happened.

The museum is a popular site for schools and other children's groups to learn about Judaism in a hands-on, experiential manner.

The building is located at the intersection of Kingston Avenue and Eastern Parkway, just across from 770 Eastern Parkway, Chabad-Lubavitch's world headquarters. The No. 3 subway station is also located across the street from the museum, but trains have continued running on schedule.

The threat comes of the heels of several others against Jewish gathering places and institutions around the city over the past few weeks.

The museum, a multi-media center of Jewish history and heritage, was reopened around midday after police said they found no explosives during a search of the six-story building in the city's Brooklyn borough.

It also states, "We are appalled at extensive desecration of Jewish cemeteries, threats and vandalism against Muslim communities and mosques, and the killing of seven transgender people since the start of 2017, majority trans women of color".
