Daycare worker charged after security camera captures her shoving child down steps

GOTCHA Seconds later Gable looked up at the camera perhaps only noticing it for the first time

In the video, Gable, 52, looks up at the camera after pushing the girl, realizing that she's being recorded.

A daycare worker in Pennsylvania is accused of pushing a four-year-old girl down a flight of stairs.

The surveillance camera was installed just minutes before the assault.

Gable, however, is now out on bail and is facing charges of simple assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police have arrested a day care worker who they say was caught on camera shoving a young girl down stairs at the suburban Philadelphia facility last week.

The video captures the daycare worker as she enters into the stairway behind the child.

The incident occurred at around 5pm on Friday, at the Child Care of the Future daycare center. "It still hurts", Shawayne Tavares told CBS Philly.

"She was a little scared of the steps", said Tavares. We don't treat children here like that. "Why would you push a child down the steps.' And the way she did it was just so carelessly as if she'd been doing it". "I'm like, 'It's not her shoe".

The 4-year-old girl suffered a minor knee injury and returned to the day care Monday. I had tears in my eyes. When I saw it air I was just like wow. ABC11's sister-station WPVI went to Gable's home in Folcroft Monday night where a man told them, "She's not available at this time".

Gable was released on $25,000 unsecured bail after being arraigned March 4 and will appear before Judge Kelly A. Micozzie-Aguirre on March 16 for her preliminary hearing.
