Blackberry "Mercury" goes official as BlackBerry KEYOne: Features, Specifications, Price revealed

And since there's a physical keyboard built-in, the entirety of the screen can stay dedicated to whatever you're looking at.

BlackBerry's latest smartphone, the KEYone, was revealed by Chinese smartphone manufacturer TCL on Saturday.

Hang on. didn't Blackberry say it was ditching making smartphones altogether?

According to TCL, the KeyOne "is intentionally created to offer the most secure Android smartphone experience possible", as the firm remains keen to push the smartphone towards business customers. A fingerprint sensor has been installed in the space bar. Like other recent BlackBerry devices, it runs Android rather than RIM's OS, though with some primarily security and productivity-minded tweaks.

You can't just write off BlackBerry, the original smartphone maker.

There's also a 12-megapixel camera on the rear using the Sony IMX378 camera sensor - that's the same snapper fitted within the brilliant Google Pixel.

The Canadian company's latest offering will be made available beginning April 2017 and will be priced at $549 (roughly Rs. 38,600) in the US, GBP 499 (roughly Rs. 41,400) in the United Kingdom, and Euro 599 (roughly Rs. 42,100) in Europe. One can also go to BlackBerry's website and preorder the KEYone. It will be priced at $549 in the USA, £499 in the United Kingdom & €599 in the rest of the Europe.

The BlackBerry KEYone features a touchscreen display and keyboard and is priced at at $549 (roughly Rs. 38,600) in the US, GBP 499 (roughly Rs. 41,400) in the United Kingdom, and Euro 599 (roughly Rs. 42,100) in Europe. The smartphone features a 4.5-inch IPS display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1620 x 1080. A programmable BlackBerry Convenience Key allows quick access to various areas of the phone such as the camera. This physical keyboard has the touch gestures & these are here to mimic the old schools Blackberry track pad. It comes with the DTEK security monitoring, as well as the Hub apps. Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port.

The BlackBerry KEYone releases worldwide in April and will cost $549.

The metal frets between each row is a classic BlackBerry move, while the combination of a solid metal frame with its curved edges and soft-touch plastic back panel is a welcome design choice. The SpaceBar comes with a fingerprint sensor.
