Moto G5 Launched at MWC; Features Snapdragon 430 SoC, and Aluminium Unibody

Motorola has always been figuring out the G-series' sweet spot in terms of size: the later G3 model was 5-inches, the G4 expanded to 5.5-inches, with the G5 shrinking back down to a more manageable 5-inch scale again (the G5 Plus is an in-between 5.2-inches). The Moto G5 has its headphone socket on the top while the G5 Plus' headphone socket is on the bottom edge.

That trend continues with a new announcement out of Moto from Mobile World Congress 2017.

Furthermore, Moto G5 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC with 1.4 GHz clockspeed coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. Storage weights in a 32GB. The Moto G5 Plus will also be available with 4GB RAM as that of Moto G5 gets an upgrade here with the base storage at 32GB and the second option being a 64GB model.

The USP of Moto G series is offering decent specs at an affordable price. The G5 has 2,800 mAh battery while the G5 Plus packs in a 3,000 mAh battery. The Moto G5's pricing starts at €199 (and is not coming to the US) and will launch in March. In reality, both phones should be incredibly quick, and in my time with each I found them to be very responsive - even surprisingly responsive. A 13 megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus is bolted on the back capable of HDR.

There are some additional power-focused Moto Mods including a wireless charging Moto Mod, a Turbo Power Moto Mod and a charging adaptor.

The Moto G5 features a sleek, aluminum design that will be available in Lunar Gray or Fine Gold.

Moreover, both phones come with the Google Assistant, a feature previously exclusive to Google's Pixel and Pixel XL. The smartphone on sale comes with a package box, manual guide and accessories, which includes earplugs, battery and other accessories need for phone charging. Both the Moto G5 and G5 Plus run on Android 7.0 Nougat and pack full metal curvaceous design. However, around Euro 189 (roughly Rs. 13,292) it was previously rumored that the smartphone would be priced lower than the Moto G4 at the time of launch. At MWC 2017, after launching Moto G and Moto G Plus, Motorola announced the partnership with Amazon for Moto Mods.

During the press conference, Dan Dery, Motorola's head of Moto Mods, re-iterated the company's commitment to the Moto Mod program, promising that the company will support Moto Mods for the foreseeable future. As an added bonus, the G5 Plus will also include Google Assistant. Having handled the G5 (and its larger, pricier (and all-round better) G5 Plus derivative - more on that here) we think the answer is an definitive yes. The Moto G5 and G5 are the successors to the last year's G4 and G4 Plus.
