Killer asked Kuchibhotla and Madasani what visas were they on

Rand Paul is fighting to make Republicans keep their promise to repeal Obamacare

The two men, one of whom reportedly had lived in the USA for more than a decade, were shot were at a bar outside Kansas City late Wednesday, according to The Kansas City Star newspaper. The incident happened when a 52-year-old navy veteran, identified as Adam Purinton, provoked the immigrants into an argument and shouted "Get out of my country' before opening fire". Madasani and 24-year-old Ian Grillot, were injured in the shooting.

Mr Kuchibhotla, 32, and Mr Madasani, also 32, were engineers at United States technology company Garmin and studied in India, according to their social media profiles.

Grillot said he tried to count the shots while he hid from the alleged gunman and attempted to confront him only to be shot in the hand and chest, the NY times reported.

Authorities say Purinton was taken into custody just after 12:30 Thursday morning about 80 miles away from Olathe in Clinton, Mo.

Purinton was charged Thursday with first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder.

Bartender Garret Bohnen told the Kansas City Star that Kuchibhotla and Madasani stopped at Austins for a drink once or twice a week.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations similarly called on the government to "consider filing hate crime charges in order to send a strong message that violence targeting religious or ethnic minorities will not be tolerated", the New York Times reported.

Srinivas Kuchibhotla died shortly after Wednesday's attack at a bar in Olathe, Kansas. Law enforcement agencies are now investigating whether the shooting was a hate crime as family and friends in both India and the United States remember Kuchibhotla's life and legacy.

"I'm sorry", she said. This is a hate crime! Telangana minister for NRI affairs KT Rama Rao said the body will arrive by Air India flight at 9.45pm and Dumala and other relatives will accompany the body.

Purinton was apprehended late Wednesday at a restaurant, after claiming he had killed two Middle Easterners, according to the Star.

The FBI joined the investigation but has not yet determined if it is a civil rights violation or a hate crime, which would make it a federal offence to be tried in a federal court and liable to federal penalty.

"Government officials have also met with the injured victim- Alok Madasani and are ensuring his well-being", Mathur said in his statement.

During a press conference at Garmin on Friday, where her husband worked as an aviation systems engineer, Dumala recounted her concerns about shootings in the US. He told Mic in an email that he believes the shooting was a result of President Donald Trump's controversial rhetoric and discriminatory policies, such as the travel ban.

Madasani is now stable and has been discharged from the hospital.
