McLaren 720S to blitz Ferrari 488 to 200km/h

The McLaren 720S Stops Nearly As Well As a P1 (Also It Drifts)

To handle the exceptional braking abilities of the new McLaren 720S are lighter and stiffer brake calipers, as well as carbon ceramic discs as standard.

Well, the British carmaker has stated that its new supercar will decelerate from said speed to a dead stop in just 4.6 seconds and 117 metres.

A drifting video is McLaren's latest teaser for its second-generation Super Series model expected to be named 720S when it debuts on 7th March.

McLaren claims the braking distance is six metres less than the outgoing 650S, and says it's actually close to the P1 hypercar's stopping distance. The segment includes track footage, drifting and commentary from McLaren chief test driver Chris Goodwin. Customers will also have the option of showing off the V8 power-train of this new McLaren as the engine bay will be illuminated as one unlocks the vehicle.

McLaren says the "exceptional braking capabilities" of its new vehicle required a lot of rigorous development to accomplish. This upcoming supercar also benefits from a movable rear air brake that generates additional stopping force, and new, bespoke Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

"The extreme performance and dynamic prowess of the second-generation Super Series, honed by testing at the limits and beyond, provides the flawless foundation for it to be the most complete supercar across the full range of use".

McLaren says we'll see the auto in all its glory on March 7th, at the Geneva Motor Show.
