Australia ready for 'big challenge' against India: Lyon

Warner admitted that he learnt a lot about himself during the 2013 tour in India

Nathan Lyon is among the Australian 17 off-spinners, who have plied his art in India.

Lyon has seen a lot of R. Ashwin in action this season.

The first Test begins on Thursday in Pune. "They are really professional, but I would like to treat them as any other team", Kumble said. I definitely changed my approach to the subcontinent conditions as compared to four years ago. We had injuries in the past just before the game or on day of match. He is a world-class spinner, the best at the moment in the world, there is a reason for it.

"I've watched a lot of Ashwin".

Lyon admitted that playing in India would be a "good challenge" for his entire team.

"He batted really well for us in Sri Lanka to be fair, he was one of our better batters", Lehmann said of Mitch Marsh. So there are no excuses.

"In Australia, you get good bounce most of the games". The brand new ball swings a bit, and once it's old (it) reverses. So in that sense this team is capable of adjusting and adapting to whatever challenges come up.

Khawaja, meanwhile, remained batting in his own net on the adjacent side of the Test wicket, facing a cluster of local spinners before completing his own fielding drills with fielding coach Greg Blewett. Our job is to bowl well together and in partnership and put pressure. I am looking at this as a chance to pass knowledge to some, especially the younger spinners who have not toured here before. I am a good mate with Steve O'Keefe. We have had a good preparation, two weeks in Dubai, then in Mumbai (where the team played a three-day first class warm-up game). We bowled well together. The stumper's runs could be the difference between the visitors building scoreboard pressure or not, while his keeping will influence India's quest for a monster total.

Both are looking to learn from their Indian counterparts Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who occupy the top two spots on the ICC's Test bowling rankings. "You don't get to do that in Australia". Big quicks will play a role.

Indias Ajinkya Rahane has upped the ante ahead of the Test series with Australia insisting they have plans for all opposition players. Everyone has his opinion.

"Even in Kolkata where we played New Zealand, it was in very different conditions where the seamers came into the picture". We have got unbelievable talent in the room out there.

"We are confident in our change room". After 2015 when India hosted South Africa on substandard pitches they haven't played on poor surfaces.

"It's going to be a challenge bowling here, but they're on the right path". We've played on some new venues, first Test match. We don't expect our big fast bowlers to come out and get them five down (on the first day).

"It's a big series for us", Kohli told reporters earlier this month. We'd like to keep it that way rather than look at the series.
