Wenger: Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich if we do this on Wednesday

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Mesut Ozil is struggling with a lack of confidence after experiencing a dip in form at the Emirates Stadium.

"It's time for him to score again".

Midfielder Granit Xhaka will be back in contention after serving a four-game domestic ban for the red card he received in the league win over Swansea. Real Madrid are the last team to beat them at the Allianz Arena, in April 2014 (0-4). "This brings forward the change that looks likely at the end of the season".

Pundit and former Arsenal star Ian Wright predicted that Wenger would last the season but not beyond: "I just get the impression in him and looking at him that's it".

So will it be a groan and moan or a yell of delight tinged with disbelief at Arsenal actually staying in the Champions League beyond February-early March?

Bayern took a while to get going is one, but once Thiago started to orchestrate their attacks in the second period, Arsenal were unable to live with their hosts.

Defeat to Arsenal would be a black mark against Ancelotti, but chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is backing Bayern.

Bayern Munich have won their last 15 home Champions League games (53 goals scored, 8 conceded) - the longest winning run in the history of the competition. "We were a bit unlucky as well but overall well done Bayern, they were better than us". "But I feel that this is a good opportunity".

"I hope Arsenal will play like they have been playing all season in England and want to play football against us".

Arsenal did go undefeated in group play, finishing ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, Ludogorets Razgrad and Basel.

In fact, Arsenal have been eliminated at the round of 16 for the past six seasons but, despite some question marks over Ospina after a couple of poor displays previous year, Wenger has backed the Gunners stopper in a big way. But Wenger says hosting the second leg is an advantage.

"It's a massive challenge, but we are capable of dealing with it". These kind of games you need to be focused for 90 minutes.

Robert Lewandowski headed home and Thiago Alcantara struck twice, the second a deflected strike after a half-cleared corner, all within 10 minutes before substitute Thomas Muller fired home as the wheels came off the Arsenal display.
